Health and social care mentors recognised at university awards

Health and social care mentors who go above and beyond to support students on placement have been honoured at a university awards ceremony.

The University of Worcester’s annual Excellence in Practice Learning Awards highlight the individuals and teams who create supportive, inclusive and high-quality learning environments for students studying nursing, midwifery, medicine, allied health and social care professions.

Professor Sally Moyle, pro vice chancellor academic at the University of Worcester, said: “Our Excellence in Practice Learning Awards recognise the generosity, skill and commitment of the professionals who support our students while they are on placement.

“Their guidance not only builds students’ confidence and competence but also instils the compassion and professionalism that define outstanding health and social care.

“We are deeply grateful to all those who work in partnership with us to inspire and shape the next generation of practitioners.”

More than 20 awards were presented, with categories covering individual supervisors, teams, and outstanding placement environments.

Winners were chosen in part based on student nominations, which highlighted the personal and professional impact of their mentorship.

One student described their supervisor as “a kind of professional I aspire to be,” while another said their mentor’s guidance and encouragement “had a significantly positive impact on my placement experience and my development as a future healthcare professional.”
