HORROR FALL Baby boy plunges from window as man, 24, and woman, 20, arrested over ‘neglect’

A TODDLER who fell from a second-floor window at his home has been airlifted to hospital, as police arrest a man and a woman.

The 20-month-old boy suffered injuries having fallen from a property on Harehill Road, Chesterfield, Derbyshire, on Tuesday.

Air Ambulance flew the toddler to Sheffield Children’s Hospital.

Two people had been arrested on suspicion of child neglect, Derbyshire Police say.

The woman, 20, and man, 24, have since been released on bail while cops continued their investigation.

The current state of the youngster's health is not known but officers said his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening or life-changing.

Derbyshire Police's latest statement said: "Two people have been arrested after a child fell from a second-floor window in Chesterfield.

"A 20-year-old woman and a 24-year-old man have been arrested on suspicion of child neglect, following reports that a 20-month-old boy fell from a second-floor window in Chesterfield at 11am on Tuesday.

"The boy's injuries are not believed to be life threatening or life changing.

"The arrested pair have been released on police bail pending further enquiries."

The force said on Tuesday: "Emergency services were called at 11am to reports that a 20-month-old boy had fallen from a second-floor window in Chesterfield.

"The boy was taken by Air Ambulance from his home in the Harehill Road area of the town, to Sheffield Children’s Hospital where he is receiving treatment for injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening or life-changing.

"Enquiries are ongoing into the circumstances of the incident and there will remain a police presence in the area this afternoon."
