THE atmosphere in Worcester pubs and bars was “electric” as fans England won their World Cup quarter final match against Norway.
Huge crowds gathered in venues across the city to cheer on The Three Lions and soak up the World Cup atmosphere on Saturday (July 11).
Donning England football shirts and flags, football fans eagerly awaited the face-off against the Norwegian team.
Roars of excitement erupted as fans celebrated Jude Bellingham’s first goal, with cheers only getting louder when he scored again during extra time.

Celebrations across Worcester

At The Conservatory Bar on Friar Street, people were jumping, cheering and hugging each other in excitement as they watched the match.
Meanwhile, at The Goodrest Tavern on Barker Street, fans were dancing in the beer garden to celebrate the win.

Alfie Wood, senior venue supervisor at Mode on Angel Row, said the sports bar served as many as 1,000 people on Saturday night.
He said the venue, which has more than 20 screens, was buzzing with excitement. Photos taken on the night show huge crowds cheering in celebration.
“It was rammed, it was chaotic, it was messy, but it was completely electric,” Mr Wood said.
“It was absolutely crazy and it’s going to keep getting better. Everyone had such a fantastic time.”

What next?
England’s win means they will now progress to the semi-finals, with a match against Argentina.
The game, which will take place in Atlanta, has been scheduled for 8pm on Wednesday, July 15.
It’s expected that many pubs and bars across Worcester and beyond will be taking advantage of England’s momentum and screening the match.
The other semi-final match will take place on Tuesday, July 14 between France and Spain.
The two winning teams will then progress to the final, which has been scheduled for Sunday, July 19.
