In the dock – see who has appeared at Worcestershire’s courts recently

Every day, scores of people appear before the magistrates’ court, receiving anything from a fine to time in prison.

Here are the cases involving people from Worcester who have appeared in court this week:

Nicholas Simpson

Age: 38
Address: Cranham Drive, Worcester, Worcestershire, WR4 9LX

Simpson assaulted a woman by beating her. Having initially denied the offence, he changed his plea to guilty on October 29, 2026.

He was ordered to be detained in the courthouse until the court rose, with the detention deemed served because of time already spent in custody.

A restraining order prohibits him from contacting the woman directly or indirectly and from entering Lovett Place, Worcester, for the next 24 months.

Finn Leddy

Age: 19
Address: Cloverhill Road, Dublin, Ireland

Leddy was found guilty of failing without reasonable excuse to provide a specimen of blood at Worcestershire Royal Hospital on March 8, 2026, after being suspected of driving a vehicle.

He was fined £375 and disqualified from driving for 14 months, reduced by 14 weeks if he completes a reduction course by July 21, 2027.

The court noted that an increased fine was imposed because community orders are not enforceable in Ireland.
