Malvern College and The Downs

Malvern College and The Downs prep school have said they will accept Malvern St James pupils at their current fee levels, honouring any fee concessions until the end of that key stage.

Keith Metcalfe, Malvern College headmaster, said: “As a fellow independent school in Malvern, we understand first-hand the pressures facing our industry, and my thoughts are with the many staff, parents and pupils who have received this shocking news.

“When families are ready, we are extending an offer of help and support to all current families enrolled at the school, to provide an education pathway that maintains educational excellence for their children in Malvern.

“Our team is on hand to support each family, working closely with them to create a pathway that is best for each child, particularly for those approaching key examination stages.”

King’s Worcester

King’s Worcester said it was “saddened” to hear of the possible closure and urged parents to get in touch to discuss places.

“Malvern St James (MSJ) has a proud history and a close-knit community, and our thoughts are with its pupils, families and staff at this unsettling time,” a spokesperson said.

“The King’s Worcester Foundation wishes to offer practical support to MSJ families who may be exploring options for September.

“Where appropriate, we would very pleased to discuss places across our Foundation schools and to help in any way we can.

“MSJ parents who would find it helpful to talk confidentially are warmly invited to contact us directly.”

RGS Worcester

RGS Worcester has invited parents to a dedicated event to discuss places on April 24.

“Our thoughts are with the entire school community at what we know will be an incredibly difficult time,” a spokesperson said.

“Our senior leadership and admissions teams would be delighted to meet with you to understand your child, discuss your priorities and advise on the most appropriate pathway within The RGS Family of Schools.”
