Is dogging taking place in this secluded Worcester car park?

Neighbours are in shock following social media speculation that a nearby car park is being used as a dogging hotspot.

Rumours appeared online yesterday (May13) that The Slip Car Park in Northwick was being used for dogging, and that it was not the first time – but is it?

A Worcester News reporter conducted numerous door knocks at the homes of people living nearby this morning (May 14), however no neighbours said they had ever seen the activity taking place.

One woman said: “I’ve lived here for many years and I’m not aware of any dogging taking place. I did see the social media post, but that is about it. It’s not something I partake in.”

Whilst another said: “I’ve not seen or heard of anything like that happening, but thank you for giving me something to laugh about.”

West Mercia Police have since confirmed that the force received no reports of dogging taking place in the area yesterday (May 13).

Jon and Nancy Williams, who were walking along the riverside this morning (May 14), said: “It’s something we’ve heard about but not personally seen.

“It seems a shame to ruin such a beautiful walk with that. If you’re going to do that, keep it at home.

“We walk along here most weeks; it’s a shame.

“It’s a popular walk with children and families, so it’s especially bad if it is taking place during the day.”

Worcester City Council was also approached to see if it was something it was aware of, however a spokesperson simply said it was a police matter.

When asked whether the council had taken any precautionary measures to deter the activity, the Worcester News did not receive a reply.

Dogging is described as the practice of watching or engaging in exhibitionist sexual activity in a public place, and there are several adult websites where the exhibitionists rate and review the spots, and explain exactly where to rendezvous to avoid public detection.

The activity itself is not illegal, but it can be if another person sees the act. If it causes outrage to a witness, an offence may be committed. The offence is one of public indecency, or public nuisance – but having sex in a public place is not against the law.
