Man with ‘heart of gold’ died from accidental overdose in supermarket car park

A MAN who died in a supermarket car park died of an accidental overdose, a coroner has ruled.

Sam Gleadall, 39, was found in a stairwell of the multistorey Asda car park in Worcester in November 2025.

At the time, the ambulance service said paramedics attempted to save him but nothing could be done and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

His medical cause of death was confirmed as heroin toxicity and, following an inquest, senior Worcestershire coroner David Reid concluded that Mr Gleadall had died from an accidental drug overdose.

In the days following his death, tributes flooded in, saying he had a “heart of gold” and saying he was “well loved”.

Flowers were also left in front of the door to the stairwell.
