Nursery group appoints new SEND and inclusion lead

A leading day nursery provider has welcomed a new group SEND and inclusion lead.

Partou, which operates more than 100 settings across the UK and runs Worcester Day Nursery and Pre-school, has appointed Dr Karen Boardman to the post.

Dr Boardman brings more than 35 years of experience in early years, education, SEND, quality assurance, and leadership development.

She holds a Doctor of Education in Early Childhood Education from the University of Sheffield.

Dr Boardman said: “I am delighted to be taking on this role at such a pivotal time for the early years sector.

“The expansion of places coupled with the way settings are graded by Ofsted has created challenges as well as opportunities for providers, particularly in relation to SEND and inclusion.

“I have been impressed by the way in which Partou has approached these issues and look forward to playing a key part in delivering the highest standards of inclusive early education across our settings.”

She was previously head of the department for early years education at Edge Hill University.

In her new role, Dr Boardman will drive Partou’s SEND and inclusion strategy, supporting each setting in delivering high-quality, inclusive practice to help every child reach their potential.

Sam Sleeman-Boss, head of early years at Partou, said: “Karen brings exceptional expertise in early childhood education and inclusion, alongside a genuine passion for improving outcomes for children.

“She understands that every child is unique and deserves to be seen, heard, and supported in ways that respect their individual needs and dignity as little people.

“Her values align strongly with ours, and I know she will play an important role in helping us create environments where every child feels they belong and has the opportunity to flourish.

“We’re delighted to have her join Partou.”
