Police message over Alzheimer’s Research door-to-door charity collectors

POLICE have issued a message about how to check Alzheimer’s charity collectors going door-to-door are genuine after receiving reports.

West Mercia Police has received reports that Alzheimer’s Research UK Charity Collectors have been going door-to-door in Broad Green, near Broadwas on Wednesday.

A spokesperson for West Mercia Police said: “We have checked with the charity and they do have fundraisers in the Malvern area this month.”

A spokesperson for the charity said: “If you are visited by one of our fundraisers or see them when you are out and about, there are a few ways you can check they are legitimate and work for Alzheimer’s Research UK. Every fundraiser will display an ID card with their name, photograph, employee number and details of the agency they work for.

“All fundraisers will wear branded orange Alzheimer’s Research UK tabards (bibs) or jackets and smart clothing.

“They will carry Alzheimer’s Research UK materials, such as information sheets and welcome packs.”
