Police no longer investigating suspected arson at house

POLICE have ended their enquiries into a suspected arson because of insufficient evidence. 

Two men, aged 18 and 19, were arrested on suspicion of arson after a house fire on Farmers Way in Droitwich on October 22, 2025.

Both have been released with no further action. 

A spokesman for West Mercia Police said: “An investigation was carried out in relation to a suspected arson on Farmers Way in Droitwich on 22 October 2025.

“Two people were arrested as part of the investigation and later released with no further action.

 “All lines of enquiry were exhausted, and the investigation has now been closed due to insufficient evidence.”

Emergency services were called to the scene in the morning of October 22 after reports of a fire at a residential address.

A man inside the property was taken to hospital with potential smoke inhalation and suffered no other injuries.

Three fire engines attended and crews believed the fire began in an outside cupboard.

At the time, detective sergeant Laura Olczak from CID said: “Officers will be in the local area today as we carry out house-to-house checks and gather available CCTV and ring-doorbell footage.

“We would urge anyone with any information about the incident or witnessed anything suspicious, to please get in contact.

“If your car was parked nearby, please check for dashcam footage of anyone walking in the area at the time of the incident.

“Even something that seems small could really help in our investigation.”
