A POLICE officer is planning to appeal the decision to dismiss him after he was accused of not declaring an overpayment.
Peter Nightingale, who was dismissed from his role as a sergeant with West Mercia Police after a recent misconduct hearing, has confirmed he will be formally disputing the outcome.
He had been accused of not declaring an overpayment on his payslip after he accidentally submitted three overtime claims instead of one, due to an IT system error.

PS Nightingale maintains that he did not act dishonestly, as was decided by the misconduct panel, as he had not checked his payslip.
He said the extra overtime claims were a “genuine error” and that he has paid back the overpayment.
The officer has served in the force for more than 20 years, including as a sergeant in Malvern.
A West Mercia Police spokesperson said: “Those who are subject to misconduct hearings have 10 working days to appeal the decision.”
