Scaffolding raised on Worcester Bridge as repairs close lane and footpath

SCAFFOLDING has been raised over the River Severn as repair work continues on the Grade-II listed Worcester Bridge.

Specialist work began on the bridge on Monday (October 19) as Worcestershire County Council begins to restore the bridge following a car crash in March.

A police car went through the guardrails on the north side of the bridge after a loose laptop became caught in the steering column.

One lane of eastbound traffic and the footpath have been closed to allow for the work to take place, which caused traffic delays in St John’s on Friday morning (October 23).

Work on the bridge is expected to last around three weeks, with the county council advising people to consider alternative routes and allow extra time for journeys.
