Service station closed until further notice after being struck by lightning

AN independent service station has been forced to close until further notice after being struck by lightning.

Ledbury Road Service Station in Tewkesbury revealed it had been directly hit by lightning during a thunderstorm yesterday afternoon (Wednesday).

The site will remain closed while engineers assess the extent of the damage to the pumps and electrics.

A spokesperson for Ledbury Road Service Station said: “After yesterday’s unfortunate direct hit by lightning, Ledbury Road Services will be closed until further notice for engineers to assess the extent of the damage on the pumps and electrics.

“We apologise for the inconvenience.

“It is somewhat out of our hands.”

Ledbury Road Service Station won twice at the Forecourt Trader Awards this year: the national innovation award and the regional forecourt award for the Midlands and East of England.
