Skincare and salon business switches busy streets for 30-acre rural estate

A WOMAN who downsized her salon business during COVID said she has found the perfect spot after switching urban streets for a 30-acre rural estate.

Ran by Fiona Otley, 57, Fee’s Treatment Rooms operates from Spetchley Park Gardens, a family-owned rural mansion and estate, which has been owned by the Berkeley Family for over 400 years.

“It’s just such an amazing space, as soon as you drive in you just think ‘this is so amazing’,” said Mrs Otley.

“For us it was about creating a really nice, welcoming, relaxing space. As soon as people step in, they just feel that tranquillity and relaxation.

“Sometimes in a city centre you have to find your parking, then after a facial you might not look your best, then you’ve got to walk through the city centre, find your car, pay for your parking. After all that relaxation you don’t want to do that.

“Here you can park up, walk round the gardens, sit in the beautiful café downstairs. Everything about this place just screams tranquillity. It is just perfect in every way.

“You are literally 10 minutes from Worcester and you feel like you’re in the middle of nowhere. It is stunning and beautiful and such a lovely place to come and work as well.”

A former dancer, Mrs Otley also runs five fitness dance sessions a week around the county and sells her own products, with ‘Fee’s Skinfood’ used on clients in the salon.

She set up The Escape Spa in 2006 in Brook End, Kempsey, before moving to Hilton Puckrup Hall, near Tewkesbury, going on to run spas at eight different Hilton sites nationwide with around 90 therapists.

She decided to scale back in COVID, rebranding to her current title and setting up at Spetchley Park Gardens with three members of staff.

They opened at the estate on June 1, 2025.

“I’ve got a great team, they are amazing and I couldn’t do it without them,” she said.

“I’ve reached 57 and I see so many women thinking ‘I’ve hit my 50s, I’m not capable of doing what I want to do or achieving what I want to achieve’.

“For me my 50s have been my best years, it has been what I want to do.

“These have been the best years of my life – I’d like to empower more women to just go for it.

“People come in stressed and they leave and it’s like they’re floating. It’s so lovely to feel that we’re doing that job.”
