A Worcester sweet shop is backing a city art trail in memory of a loved one.
Mr D’s Olde Sweet Shop, located on Worcester High Street, will sponsor two large sculptures as part of the 2027 Peter Rabbit-themed art trail, which arrives in Worcester next summer.
Aleks Racic, who runs the shop with his wife Alexandra, said: “Our wonderful sweet shop is named in memory of my dad.
“St Richard’s Hospice provided support to him and all of our family.
“It was so important to dad to be at home and St Richard’s helped to make that possible by offering compassion and guidance to the whole family and round-the-clock access to support as and when needed.
“They made a very difficult time that bit easier for us all.
“It’s our second time supporting the hospice’s art trail, but our first time supporting a smaller sculpture so a local school or community group can take part too.
“It means a lot to us to give something back and be part of something really special in the city next summer.”

The trail, titled Peter Rabbit™ in the warrens of Worcester, will feature 75 sculptures and run from July 12 to September 5, 2027.
Sara Matthews, business development manager for St Richard’s, said: “There’s something magical about a traditional sweet shop like Mr D’s.
“While the first part of the art trail is all about providing fun, free days out for a community which gives so much to us as a hospice, the sculpture auction at the end helps us continue our care for patients and their loved ones.
“We’re so grateful to Aleks and Alexandra for helping us be there for other families into the future.”
