THREE leverets have been orphaned after their mother was killed by a tractor.
The orphans are currently being cared for by the Vale Wildlife Hospital and Rehabilitation Centre.
A Vale Wildlife Hospital and Rehabilitation Centre spokesperson said: “This little leveret is one of three currently being hand-reared after their mum was sadly killed by a tractor.
“They may look cute and cuddly, but caring for young hares requires specialist knowledge and plenty of patience. Thankfully, all three are now safe, receiving the care they need and being given the best possible chance of returning to the wild when they’re ready.
“Please remember: leverets are often left alone for long periods while their mum feeds nearby, so finding one by itself doesn’t necessarily mean it has been abandoned. If you’re concerned, always contact a wildlife rescue for advice before intervening.”
