A FORMER colleague of superyacht victim Mike Lynch was killed when he was struck by a car while out running, an inquest heard today.
Stephen Chamberlain, 52, suffered a "traumatic head injury" following the horror in Cambridgeshire last month.
The dad was airlifted to hospital but couldn't be saved and was declared dead three days later.
An inquest heard how a police probe into his death is ongoing.
Stephen had been out running on August 17 when a car "crested" a humpback bridge just as he crossed the road.
The court was told he suffered "significant injuries" after being hit by the blue Vauxhall Corsa.
The driver – 49-year-old woman – remained at the scene and is assisting police with their enquiries.
Caroline Jones, area coroner for Cambridgeshire and Peterborough, adjourned the inquest until a date to be set.
Stephen worked as vice president of finance at tech tycoon Lynch's former company Autonomy.
The pair both faced charges in the US of fraud and conspiracy but were acquitted in June.
They were accused of conducting a massive scam over the sale of software company Autonomy to Hewlett-Packard (HP) in 2011.
Lynch, 59, was one of seven people who died when his £14million superyacht sank off the coast of northern Sicily on August 19.
His daughter Hannah was also killed in the tragedy, with prosecutors opening an Italian manslaughter probe.
Tributes flooded in for "much-loved husband, father, son, brother and friend" Stephen following his death.
His heartbroken family said: "He was an amazing individual whose only goal in life was to help others in any way possible.
"He made a lasting impression on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.
"He will be deeply missed but forever in the hearts of his loved ones."
