A ukulele group has raised more than £800 for charity through a series of festival performances.
The Songbirds Ukulele Group collected £862.24 for Acorns Children’s Hospice during the Worcester Festival, delighting crowds with six performances on the Huntingdon Hall Steps and in Bell Square.
Colin, the group’s organiser, said: “We had great fun performing at the festival, and we’re delighted that the continued generosity of the people of Worcester has enabled us to raise so much for such a worthwhile local cause, in fact over £300 more than last year.”
The group also took to the stage as the Ian Lockyer Benchwarmers for three additional performances and played two jazz gigs as Colin and Friends.
Chris Jaeger, director of the Worcester Festival, praised the group’s efforts.
Mr Jaeger said they made ‘a huge contribution’ and had ‘lots of really good comments.’
The Songbirds are known for playing a diverse range of music.
