Worcester Bridges of Light festival programme announced

Worcester city centre will be transformed by illuminated artworks, interactive displays and creative workshops during a free two-night festival.

Bridges of Light will bring displays and workshops to locations including The Hive and Worcester Porcelain Works.

Taking place on Wednesday, October 28 and Thursday, October 29, the event will run from 6pm to 9pm on both nights.

This year’s festival sees increased involvement from community groups and volunteers, who have been working alongside organisers and artists.

Among the attractions is Rythmus by Machines Studio, an installation outside Henry Sandon Hall in Worcester Porcelain Works.

Visitors are invited to stand face-to-face with another person, place their fingers on the sensors, and watch as the installation responds to heartbeats.

Inside Henry Sandon Hall, How Do You See Me? by Dancefest and Noel Jones offers an immersive world of dance, reflection, and light.

The Museum of Royal Worcester will host a drop-in stained-glass window workshop, where anyone can contribute to the festival’s stained-glass window artwork. No booking is necessary.

Cathedral Square will feature Containers by Terraform, a walk-through installation of towering bridge-like structures that come alive as audiences walk through the illuminated tunnels.

Reflections by Lou Chapelle, in collaboration with various dance companies and local poets, will be inside St Helen’s Church.

This installation combines mirrors and rippling water, with an enchanting soundtrack and intimate choreography.

Inside St Swithun’s Church, City of Reflections by Mark Riley will showcase an illuminated city, accompanied by a soundscape composed by local musician Ed Kimberley.

Angel Place offers Rock NeON by Things That Go On Things, an opportunity for visitors to become part of the artwork.

Seven Echoes by Illuminos, a projection across the River Severn and onto Worcester Bridge, tells the myth of Echo and Narcissus.

The installation, just under nine minutes long, will be on a continuous loop.

Behind The Hive, Globoscope by Maxime Houot features hundreds of glowing spheres programmed to respond to a bespoke soundtrack.

We Are Neon by The Artery combines a trail of illuminated artworks through Worcester city centre with a glowing portrait gallery in Arch 27.

The programme also includes Together We Reflect by Raphael Daden, a moving installation guiding audiences across the city.

Bridges of Light is a free, non-ticketed event suitable for all ages.
