Worcester Theatres thanks volunteers for commitment to arts scene

A DEDICATED team of volunteers has been honoured for their vital role in supporting the performing arts.

Worcester Theatres hosted a volunteer tea party at the Swan Theatre on Tuesday, May 26, to say thank you to its volunteer stewards and bar staff, who help create a warm and welcoming experience for audiences at the Swan Theatre and Huntingdon Hall.

Attendees included newcomers who have only recently joined the team and long-standing members with decades of experience.

Jon Fraser, chairman of Worcester Theatres, said: “Having started my own theatre journey as a volunteer at The Rose Theatre in Kidderminster, I know first-hand the passion and commitment these roles require.

“Theatre is built on collaboration and volunteers are a vital part of that collective effort.

“Their generosity and dedication help ensure that every visitor feels welcomed from the moment they arrive.

“No matter how good the performance on stage is, the audience experience begins long before the curtain rises.

“Our volunteers play a vital role in creating that experience and their dedication is hugely valued across our venues at the Swan Theatre and Huntingdon Hall.

“From the bottom of my heart, I want to thank our volunteers for everything they do.

“Whether welcoming audiences, serving behind the bar or supporting front of house, they are truly the lifeblood of theatre.”

Volunteers contribute by stewarding performances, working behind the bar and supporting front-of-house operations.

In return for their support, volunteers have the opportunity to enjoy performances at Worcester Theatres’ venues free of charge.

Worcester Theatres is inviting more people to join its volunteer team, with opportunities open to those who can offer a few hours occasionally or wish to become more regularly involved.
