More than 180 artists and makers are taking part in Worcestershire Open Studios Art Week.
The county’s largest visual arts event, running from Saturday, August 22, to Monday, August 31, allows visitors to engage with artists, see works in progress, and enjoy informal demonstrations.
Here’s a look at some of the timed workshops and demonstrations that require advance booking.
On Wednesday, August 26, from 10am to 11am, Anna Mitchell of Creative Clay will take participants on a journey of “Nature Textures in Clay.”
Attendees, for a fee of £20, will experiment with texturing clay using natural materials, fabrics, wallpapers, stamps, and lettering to create a collage on a small slab of clay.
The finished pieces can be wall-mounted or formed into a shallow bowl, and will be fired with a choice of glaze, ready for collection in about a month.

On Tuesday, August 25, from 10am to 11am, children aged seven and above, accompanied by an adult, can partake in the “Wild Things” workshop, also by Anna Mitchell.
For £10, participants will create their own ‘Wild Things’ inspired by nature and magical creatures using unfired clay and natural materials. There are eight places available.
The “Animal Shrine Workshop,” led by Rae Stevens, will take place on Monday, August 25, and Wednesday, August 27, from 2pm to 4pm.
In Rae’s garden studio, participants will create unique animal shrines using painting, collage, and decorative papers.
With a maximum of four participants per workshop, the fee is £20, and booking can be made via raestevens@btopenworld.com.
On Sunday, August 23, from 11am to 4pm, Julie Lloyd Owen will conduct a “Stitched Portraiture” workshop where participants will hand-stitch a portrait from a photo.

Jim Morris invites sketchers to join the Malvern Sketchers for some on-location sketching in the garden at 24 Blackmore Road on Sunday, August 23, from 11am to 4pm.
This is a free event, and no booking is required. “Cuppas and Cakes” will be available for a donation to local charity Malvern Welcomes.
From August 22 to 29, from 1pm to 3pm, Hanife O’Keeffe will demonstrate painting a wooden box.
This drop-in demonstration is open to both adults and children, with line drawings provided for children to colour in. All materials will be supplied.
Most venues will have artists working throughout their opening times, even where no specific event is scheduled.
