Bikes roar into Chateau Impney estate for ‘phenomenal’ event

BIKES roared into Droitwich for a “phenomenal” mods and rockers event.

Throughout the day, there was a steady stream of bikes and scooters being ridden into the Chateau Impney estate for the event hosted by motorbike dealership Midlife Classics.

Clad mostly in leather, a large crowd of bikers could be seen enjoying the sunshine and inspecting the wide range of vehicles brought from near and far.

Tim Slaughter, owner of Midlife Classics, said the annual bike day has been going on for several years but the decision to give it the mods and rockers theme came after the popularity of last year’s event.

“We did a mods and rockers day last year and it was so successful, with the lads coming on the scooters with all the mirrors and all dressed up as mods,” he said. “We’ve stuck with that theme.”

He said he had been especially impressed by the number of people who had turned up this year, with people continuing to arrive several hours after the event began.

“This is just phenomenal,” he said. “It’s never been as busy is this. The turnout is fantastic. They started coming this morning and it’s not stopped since.

“There’s certainly people coming from a large area around here and some from further afield.”

There were various stalls at the event sharing information about other bike-related events and initiatives, including Worcester Auto Club, Droitwich Spa Bike Night and Make Your Mark.

Attendees also enjoyed the last-minute addition of a burger bar by Deano’s Grub Shack.

“It’s got a fantastic atmosphere,” Mr Slaughter said.

“It’s a good gathering point. There’s nothing pretentious about it.

“We don’t have live entertainment or artisan street food. This is the first time we’ve had a burger van. It’s just very laid-back and an old style bike shop day.

“Everybody seems to be enjoying themselves. That’s the thing about it. If you want to meet like-minded people and look at bikes and scooters, it’s ideal.”
