The special reason why a fox-shaped seat has been installed at a city park

A new fox-shaped seat has been installed at a city park.

Located at Oldbury Road Playing Field, the seat was installed by Friends of Laugherne Brook with the help of Worcester City Council and Men’s Shed.

Stuart Minchin, the chair of the Friends of Laugherne Brook, said: “We hope that the fox seat will be an interesting and attractive feature for the park, and provide some additional seating.

“The funding was provided by the local councillors and build by the wonderful Men’s Shed.”

The seat is shaped like a fox because ‘Laugherne’ comes from an old Welsh word for fox and features in the group’s logo.

Residents asked to choose name for park

Worcester City Council asked residents to help choose an official name for the green space earlier this year. The options were:

Ambrose Park

Comer Fields Park

Coppertops Park

Foxwood Park

Hawkwood Park

Laugherne Park

The council is yet to announce the winner of the public vote.
