An open day to raise funds for repairs to a 100-year-old organ is set to take place.
St Martin’s Church on London Road, Worcester, will host Organ Gift Day on Saturday, July 4, with a full programme of informal recitals by a team of local musicians from 10.30am to 4pm.
The event aims to raise funds for vital repairs to the church’s nearly century-old organ, which was damaged during storms.
Shirley Scott, one of the organisers, said: “During the winter storms, the church sprung a leak in the roof, causing serious damage to parts of the organ.
“Fortunately, most of this has been covered by insurance, apart from a hefty excess on the policy, and we’re about to embark on major repairs.
“But there are two more parts of the organ which need attention that are not covered by insurance, and it makes sense to have those done at the same time, so we’re raising funds to cover these costs, up to £10,000.”
