Detective given warning over ‘discreditable conduct’

A WEST Mercia Police detective has been warned over “discreditable conduct”.

The unnamed detective constable faced a misconduct meeting last month over allegations of “discreditable conduct” and misconduct relating to orders and instructions.

The officer was given a written warning, lasting for 18 months.

Under the Police Conduct Regulations 2020, a misconduct hearing should be held in public but misconduct meetings, such as this one, must be held in private.

Meetings generally deal with lower level cases than misconduct hearings, with the maximum outcome being a final written warning.
