AN important safety warning has been issued in a Malvern park after people were seen climbing under a cordon.
The council has reminded members of the public that is unsafe to go into the cordoned off area in Priory Park, due to concerns about a declining cedar tree.

Why is the tree cordoned off in Priory Park?
A section of the play area was cordoned off earlier this week after an assessment found that the mature tree was showing “significant signs of drought stress”.
This means there is a higher risk of branches falling, posing a risk to anyone in the playground below.

“We are concerned to see some people entering the cordoned off area around the tree in Priory Park,” a Malvern Hills District Council (MHDC) spokesperson said.
“For your safety, please stay outside the restricted area.”
MHDC said specialist assessments of the tree are underway to determine to best course of action, before lifting the cordon.
