A WOMAN who has been trying to promote and strengthen Evesham is an unsung hero.
Eden Gray, Visit Evesham’s marketing and social media manager, has been named a finalist in the unsung hero category at this year’s Visit Worcestershire Tourism Awards.
Regularly giving up her free time outside of contracted hours, according to colleagues, Ms Gray has worked with Visit Evesham for the past two years, helping to promote Evesham, support local businesses, and strengthen the town’s visitor economy.
Phil Maclean, chair of the Evesham Place Board, has congratulated Eden for her hard work and dedication, adding: “Whether championing local businesses, creating engaging content, supporting events or ensuring Evesham continues to stand out as a destination, Eden has worked tirelessly and professionally, never seeking recognition and always putting the town first.
“Keeping Evesham firmly on the Worcestershire map requires dedication, passion and teamwork. Eden has played a significant role in helping us achieve that, and we are incredibly proud to see her commitment recognised.
“We would also like to congratulate Visit Worcestershire and the Worcestershire Tourism Awards for celebrating the people and organisations that make our county’s tourism sector so exceptional. These awards shine a light on the talent, dedication and hard work that help Worcestershire thrive”
“Congratulations Eden, we’ll be cheering you on in the finals.”
79 finalists have been named across a range of categories, with finalists now set to be judged by independent tourism experts, with the victors set to be announced in March 2027.
Ms Gray is competing against Alison Jacobsen from the Morgan Motor Company, Elaine Williams of Attwell Farm Park, Mark Miles from the Canal and River Trust at Diglis Island, and Paul Harding of Discover History.
Councillor Adam Kent, deputy leader and cabinet member with responsibility for finance, corporate services and business at Worcestershire County Council, said: “Congratulations to every business, organisation and individual shortlisted for this year’s Visit Worcestershire Tourism Awards. Reaching the finalist stage is a significant achievement and reflects the quality, hard work and ambition that can be seen throughout Worcestershire’s visitor economy.
“Tourism is an important part of our county’s economy. It supports local jobs, strengthens our towns and rural communities, brings customers to independent businesses and helps showcase Worcestershire to visitors from across the UK and around the world.
“What is particularly striking about this year’s finalists is the breadth of talent represented, from internationally recognised attractions and historic hotels to family businesses, food and drink producers, festivals and the individuals whose dedication often goes unseen.
“These awards are about more than celebrating success. They help raise standards, encourage innovation and give outstanding Worcestershire businesses the recognition they deserve. I look forward to celebrating with all of the finalists in March and seeing more of them go on to achieve national recognition.”
