FIREFIGHTERS are searching the Malvern Hills after receiving an influx of reports that residents could smell smoke.
The reports started to come in early on Sunday (August 9) when residents said they could smell smoke in the North Hill area.
The smell then travelled as far as Worcester and Gloucestershire.

While Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service believe the cause of the smell is smoke drifting from a wildfire near Ebbw Vale in South Wales, it has now said it is carrying out searches.
It said these searches are being carried out as a “precaution” and said the public should report any signs of fire or smoke coming from a specific locations.
“Further to our earlier post regarding reports of smoke across Herefordshire, it is now believed that the smoke has travelled into the Malvern Hills area,” a fire service spokesperson said.
“As a precaution, Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service has crews in attendance carrying out investigations and searches within the area.
“Hereford and Worcester Fire Control is advising members of the public that if they see any signs of fire, smoke coming from a specific location, or have concerns about an immediate risk, they should call 999.
“We will continue to monitor the situation and provide further updates as more information becomes available.”
