Shoplifter jailed after breaching Criminal Behaviour Order

A shoplifter has been jailed for breaching a Criminal Behaviour Order.

Samantha James, aged 39, of East Street, Kidderminster, was found guilty at Worcester Magistrates Court on Thursday (August 13) of three counts of breaching a CBO and two counts of theft from a shop.

She was sentenced to six months in prison for each of the CBO breaches to run concurrently, and ordered to pay £119.30 in compensation for the thefts.

Police Constable Richard Clayton, of the Kidderminster Safer Neighbourhood Team, said: “We are pleased that James has received a custodial sentence after continuing to offend despite being subject to a Criminal Behaviour Order for previous shoplifting offences.

“We hope this case demonstrates that we take retail crime seriously and will take robust action against offenders.

“We will not hesitate to bring those responsible before the courts, and persistent offenders should expect to face increasingly serious consequences, including imprisonment.”
