A family have been reunited with a “mystery hero” who helped a pregnant mum in an emergency in Kidderminster.
Jasmine Hughes, from Kidderminster, was 31 weeks pregnant when she went into early labour and gave birth to her son, Lincoln-Jaiie Riley.
Her mum Vanessa Hughes said: “I was at work and Jasmine’s partner Jaiie had gone to buy the kids a paddling pool.
“Jasmine had already had a rough pregnancy, but on Tuesday, the contractions came on even stronger and she just felt the urge to push.
“She was only 31 weeks, but thankfully, both Jasmine and the baby are fine.”
It happened on Tuesday (August 11) when Jasmine began experiencing strong contractions at home before giving birth to her son in the bathroom.
Her partner’s sister, Louise Riley, stayed by her side and helped keep her calm throughout the birth.
Emergency services responded, and an air ambulance was sent to the scene.
When a doctor arrived at the house, the family learned he had been given a lift by an unknown member of the public who helped him reach the address quickly and helped save precious time.
The family issued an appeal last week for the community to help find the good Samaritan so they could thank him, and with the help of social media, they have now been put in touch with him.
Jasmine Hughes said: “I just want to say a heartfelt thank you to Dave Walker – the man who gave the critical care team a lift to my house on August 11.
“Those extra couple of minutes mattered more than you could ever know. I have personally thanked him and told him how much I appreciate what he did for me that day.
“What makes it even more special is that he didn’t want any recognition for it. He simply saw it as something anyone would do if they saw the team and knew someone needed help.
“But to me, it meant so much more. In a moment when every second counted, he helped get the right people to me when I needed them most.
“Thank you. Your kindness and selflessness will never be forgotten.”
Jasmine’s mum Vanessa Hughes said: “He’s actually a hero. Jasmine almost died from loss of blood in a previous pregnancy, so we really thought we might lose her.
“He has helped save her life.”
