THE SEARCH has begun to replace a long-serving headteacher who dedicated 30 years of service at a Worcester private school.
The Worcester prep school, RGS The Grange, has posted a job advert in a bid to find its next headteacher following the soon-to-be retirement of Gareth Hughes.
The independent school, based in Fernhill Heath, has advertised for a new Head of RGS The Grange to take up the post from September 1, 2027, when Mr Hughes departs.

RGS The Grange, which is celebrating its 30th anniversary this academic year, describes the role as a “rare opportunity” to lead the co-educational prep school into its next chapter.
The school sits within 50 acres of grounds on the outskirts of Worcester and educates children from the age of two to 11 as part of the wider RGS Worcester Family of Schools.
In the job advertisement, governors said they are seeking an “exceptional and inspirational” leader to build on the school’s reputation for academic achievement, pastoral care and community spirit.
The successful candidate will also play a role in shaping the strategic direction of the wider RGS Worcester Family of Schools and will work closely with RGS Worcester to support pupils’ transition to senior education.

Mr Hughes announced earlier this month that he would retire after more than 30 years within the RGS Worcester Family of Schools, including 18 years as head of RGS The Grange.
At the time, he said it had been an “enormous privilege” to lead the school and praised its pupils, staff and families for helping create a special community.

He said: “As we celebrate the thirtieth anniversary of RGS The Grange, it feels particularly fitting to be looking not only at everything the school has achieved, but also at its future.
“The Grange is fortunate to have exceptional teachers who know our pupils and families incredibly well and are deeply committed to the School.
“I know that I will leave RGS The Grange in very capable hands and in an exceptionally strong position, and I am excited to see how the School continues to evolve and flourish over the years ahead.”
The school is accepting aplications for the position until October 12.
