A deeply personal new play exploring love, loss and life with Alzheimer’s is coming to Worcester’s Swan Theatre.
The Luxurious Time, written and performed by Martin Lewton, chronicles his personal experience as his partner battled Alzheimer’s.
He wrote the play as a tribute to his late partner, aiming to shine a light on the “terrible illness” and to demand increased research.
It is a deeply moving, occasionally very funny play which explores the complexities of love and decision making in such circumstances.
Lewton said he wrote it based on notes he made while his partner was living at home.
When he went back to the notes, he realised the story needed to be told.
Posing questions about our own mortality, the play has many genuinely poetic moments, asking: “Where are we? Why are we here? Where are we going?”
