MOTORISTS are being reminded to plan ahead this week as abnormal loads travelling under police escort are expected to cause major delays on the M5 through Worcestershire.
The warning comes ahead of a series of northbound motorway movements involving three giant silos weighing up to 25 tonnes each, which are set to travel through the county over the coming days.
The loads will travel between junction 8 near the M50 and junction 2 at Oldbury in the West Midlands.

Due to their size, they will move at speeds of between 20mph and 25mph and will be escorted by West Midlands Police.
Drivers have been told to expect delays of between 60 and 90 minutes, with only one lane available for overtaking on the northbound carriageway.

Traffic could also be temporarily held at certain structures while the silos are lowered to pass safely underneath.
When will the abnormal load pass through Worcestershire?
The loads will leave Avonmouth at 6pm on Wednesday, September 30, at 20am on Thursday, 8 October, and at 8.30am on Sunday, 11 October.
The first convoy is due to travel through Worcestershire on October 2 (Friday), with further movements planned for October 9 and October 12.
Motorists have been warned to allow extra time for journeys and consider alternative routes where possible.
