FANTASY characters from all corners of the universe descended on Worcester Comic-Con today.
Hundreds of fans of all ages packed into Sixways Stadium for the popular Creed Conventions event.
As well as stalls, talks and photo opportunities, there was the chance to meet celebrities including children’s comic Paul Chuckle, actress Dani Harmer and Doctor Who star Katy Manning.
Matt Gormley, who came dressed in a self-made Joker costume, said: “The attraction of Comic-Con is being part of a community, having a laugh and buying things you don’t normally see every day, such as trinkets and badges.
“It’s a friendly event and a chance to speak to people you would otherwise just pass by in the street.”

Mr Gormley, 47, makes his own fantasy costumes after discovering his passion for comics as a teenager.
“I’ve been into comics since I was 13 or 14.
“For me personally, it’s also a chance to bring Heath Ledger’s Joker back to life, but I’ve also done Batman and I can do all sorts.
“Halloween is a big occasion in our family.”

Reid Wurmli, 9, came in a Warhammer costume, complete with a flashing visor, that he made with help from his dad, Matthew.
Mr Wurmli, 42, said: “The sense of community here is really nice, it’s like a big family and very welcoming.
“Reid loves it, the costume took us six months to make and it makes him feel powerful, which is always good.”

Annabelle Jones and dad Phil came from Dudley dressed as characters from Resident Evil, complete with multiple weapons.
Other fans queued up to get pictures and autographs from one of the Chuckle Brothers.
They included brothers Tom and Kevin Southwick and their friend Craig Maycroft, who came from Droitwich for the convention.

Kevin, 30, said: “It was brilliant meeting Paul Chuckle because the slapstick comedy was so well done and it brings back so many childhood memories.
“It is sad with the passing of Barry Chuckle.
“My brother is also a massive fan and he has the Chuckle Brothers on every single night.
“To be able to meet one of your heroes is something to tick off your list in life. “
The convention also had guest talks, a gaming zone, a cosplay parade and various activities over the course of the day.
Today’s event is separate from the Worcester Comic Con at the University of Worcester Arena, organised by Bolt Events, which will take place on September 6.
