COUNCIL leader Matt Jenkins is set to face a vote of no confidence at a meeting next week.
The vote will be the first big test of Worcestershire County Council’s ruling coalition of Green, Lib Dem, independent and Conservative councillors.
The motion is being brought by Reform UK leader Alan Amos, who was defeated by Councillor Jenkins in a bid to take control of the council in May.

Reform councillors Sam Bastow and Rob Wharton, the former deputy leader of the council, are also named on the motion, which states: “The council notes that it has lost confidence in the leader of the council.
“This council resolves to remove the leader from their position and elect a new leader.”
It remains to be seen whether Reform, which ran the council last year as a minority administration, has enough support in the chamber to pass a no confidence motion.
The party currently has 22 county councillors after four members – including former leader Jo Monk – quit Reform to sit as independents.

That’s some way short of the 29 needed for an outright majority if all 57 councillors are present.
Even if the four independent former Reform councillors and two Labour councillors voted for the motion, it would still need support from at least one other member from somewhere else in the chamber.
Whatever happens, the first council meeting since Reform were kicked out of power and Cllr Jenkins took charge of the council looks set to be another fiery one.
The meeting will take place next Thursday (July 16) at 10am at Pershore Civic Centre.
