A Tenbury-based tree nursery are celebrating gold medal success at this year’s RHS Chelsea Flower Show.
Frank P Matthews Trees, specialists in both ornamental and fruit trees, received the top award for their standout exhibit at the world-famous event, marking their second appearance at the show after earning a Silver-Gilt last year.
This time, the nursery impressed judges with a striking display dedicated to the Malus genus, featuring more than 50 trees in full bloom.
Steph Dunn James, of Frank P Matthews Trees, said: “This is only our second year at Chelsea, so to achieve a Gold Medal is a real testament to the dedication, passion and skill of our team back in Tenbury Wells.
“It has been wonderful to see such enthusiasm from visitors to our curated display of Malus trees, which is an expression of what we do best.”

The exhibit included both established and new varieties of Malus, as well as trained specimen fruit trees, demonstrating the nursery’s horticultural expertise and craftsmanship.

The Gold Medal win is especially meaningful as the nursery celebrates its 125th year in business.
Founded in 1901, Frank P Matthews Trees remains a fourth-generation, family-run business and is one of the UK’s leading nurseries, supplying commercial and private customers nationwide.
This year’s exhibit was sponsored by global wealth and asset manager Lombard Odier, whose support helped bring the display to life at the Chelsea Flower Show.
The sponsorship enabled visitors from around the world to immerse themselves in the beauty and importance of trees.
The nursery is known for introducing innovative tree varieties and for its long-standing commitment to quality, horticultural excellence and British-grown stock.
The Gold Medal adds to a long history of industry recognition and reflects Frank P Matthews Trees’ ongoing contribution to the world of horticulture.
