HEARTBROKEN dog lovers have described the horrifying moment they found a ‘starved’ dead puppy dumped in a carrier bag near where children play.
The dog, believed to be a lurcher or other similar breed, was found by dog walkers in a B&M carrier bag for life by bushes in the field by Warndon Hub off Shap Drive in Warndon, Worcester.
The incident, which has been confirmed by the RSPCA, is now being formally investigated. West Mercia Police has also been informed.
A woman who found the dog together with other dog walkers discovered the bag on Saturday morning when her own dog began sniffing it, near the primary school.

She believed the bag must have been put there recently as it was not wet and it had been raining the night before.
Another dog walker tried to pick the bag up but said: “It feels heavy, I don’t want to look in that.”
A man opened the bag to find the puppy inside, wrapped in a bed sheet.

The woman, who did not want to be named, said: “I saw the dog and it was heartbreaking. It was really sad to think somebody could just dump an animal like that. It looked about two to three months old. There were no visible injuries, but it looked like it had been starved.”

She reported it to the RSPCA and police, and photos were also taken for evidential purposes.
“A child could have found that dog. Can you imagine little children finding that, or if another dog had dragged it out of the bag?”
One witness said ‘shame on you’ to the people who ‘thought it was okay to starve a puppy to death then throw it over Warndon community field in a plastic bag’.
She added: “How vile can one human being be? I know that the RSPCA have been informed and I hope you get what’s coming to you. So sad, that poor puppy. Absolutely heartbreaking.”
An RSPCA spokesperson said: “We are investigating this distressing incident and we would urge anyone with information to call our cruelty line on 0300 123 8018.”
Cllr Jill Desayrah, the Labour councillor for Warndon, said: “What is described here is extremely distressing. I hope the matter can be investigated urgently.”
