FRESH and authentic Italian food will be served at a quirky historic village pub near Worcester by the end of this week.
Compari Kitchen will serve dishes at The Mug House in Claines every Friday from 6pm to 9pm, starting this week, proving that one the county’s oldest pubs can still go in a new direction.
Meanwhile, a menu has been released giving customers a taste of what they can expect at the historic grade II listed Marston’s pub, one of only two in the country on consecrated ground.
Sharing options include handmade giant Bolognese Arancina for £6, a crispy Italian sharing platter for £12, and an Italian grand sharing board for two to three people at £18.50.

Amie Fisher, who has been employed at the pub for seven years but is now the landlady, said: “We’re really excited to welcome Compari Kitchen to The Mug House. We’ve worked with them in the past and adore their food so we wanted to bring something a little different to the pub and give customers another reason to join us on a Friday night.
“Compari will be serving freshly prepared Italian food straight from our kitchen! We’re really looking forward to getting started this Friday and hope everyone loves it as much as we do.”
The Mug House, also known as the pub in the churchyard, is one of only two pubs built on consecrated ground and dates back to the 1500s.
