Legendary 80s star Bonnie Tyler ‘seriously unwell’ ahead of county music festival

A legendary 80s pop legend who was due to perform at a county music festival is seriously unwell and has been placed in an induced coma.

Bonnie Tyler was due to perform as one of the headliners at the Sunshine Festival in Upton but has been taken ill as organisers offer their thoughts and prayers.

The 74-year-old Welsh singer, famous for 1980s hits including Total Eclipse of the Heart and Holding Out for a Hero, was set to roll back the years to perform on the main stage at the festival in Fish Meadow on Saturday, August 29.

A spokesperson for the festival said today: “Sadly, we received the news last night that Bonnie Tyler has fallen seriously unwell.

“The singer has reportedly been placed into an induced coma to aid her recovery following emergency intestinal surgery in Faro, Portugal, near her home. Her spokesperson confirmed that doctors made the decision to help support her recovery after the operation.”

A statement from her team said: “Bonnie has been put into an induced coma by her doctors to aid her recovery. We know that you all wish her well and ask for privacy at this difficult time.

“Everyone here at Sunshine would like to send our love, thoughts, and best wishes to Bonnie and her family during this difficult time. We know many of our wonderful customers and friends will be keeping her in their thoughts and hoping for a full and speedy recovery.
