The M42 was closed in both directions and is expected to be shut for hours following a serious crash, affecting drivers heading south towards the M5.
The southbound closure is between junctions three, Portway/Redditch, and two, Alvechurch/Hopwood following a police incident last night. The motorway has been closed in both directions but is now open northbound.
According to Google Maps, the road will be closed until noon today, causing disruption for drivers heading south towards the M5. Motorists are advised to follow diversions.

A spokesperson for West Mercia Police said: “Motorists are advised the M42 remains closed in both directions between junctions three (Portway/Redditch) and two (Alvechurch/Hopwood) due to a serious collision.
“The carriageway is expected to be closed for several hours and drivers are advised to seek alternative routes. Diversions are in place.”
A spokesperson for National Highways said: “The M42 in Worcestershire is closed southbound between J3 and J2 due to a Police led incident which occurred shortly before 10.20pm on September 10.
All lanes have re-opened on the northbound carriageway. Police investigations have been ongoing throughout the night and will continue into the morning.
Due to the nature of the incident the closure is expected to remain in place for several hours.”
