A MAN has traded the corporate world for a life in food to open a new deli.
Steve Cook, 41, will launch Deli Folk on Belle Vue Terrace in Malvern after leaving a career as a UX writer.
The former finance and travel industry professional is turning his long-held ambition into reality.
Mr Cook said: “I’ve spent the last 10 to 15 years in the corporate world.
“It’s something I have wanted to for a long time, I trained as a chef five years ago.
“My dream is to open a deli that brings together all the really great food we have around here.
“I’m super excited to open the store and welcome people in.”

After moving to Malvern, Mr Cook said he realised the town was missing a dedicated delicatessen and when the former site of Lonsdale Fresh Produce became available, he seized the opportunity.
He has been working to fit out the shop and hopes to open in early to mid-July.

Mr Cook said: “It will just be myself and I’m getting lots of help from family and friends to get up and running.
“If it’s successful, I’ll be hiring people to build a bit of a team.
“All the neighbouring stores and traders have been really supportive and I’m really looking forward to being part of that up-and-coming strip of businesses.”

The future deli owner explained that the idea had been in the back of his mind for a number of years and he is excited to bring it to the “great community” of Malvern.
“I’ve lived in Malvern for two years now so I’m relatively new to the town and I love it here,” he said.
“It’s right on the strip and it’s already got lots of the stuff I wanted. A great space.
“I’m really excited. It’s been a passion of mine for many years now. The idea of opening this business has been in my head for a couple of years.
“I’m super excited to open the store and welcome people in. ”
Are you excited to try this out when it opens?
