New pizzeria takes next step towards opening in Worcester

A NEW Worcester pizzeria has moved another step closer to opening after boarding was removed and its signage unveiled.

Rudy’s Pizza Napoletana is preparing to open a restaurant at 66-67 Broad Street in Worcester city centre, taking over the former Mountain Warehouse store.

The site had been covered with boarding while work was carried out to transform the unit, but the frontage can now be seen.

New “Rudy’s Pizza Napoletana” branding has been installed prominently above the shopfront, while a projecting Rudy’s sign has also appeared outside.

The windows remain covered while work continues inside the building ahead of the restaurant welcoming its first customers. However, orange tables can be seen inside.

The Worcester restaurant is due to open in November, although an exact opening date has not been announced.

The restaurant will be spread across two floors and will have room for around 115 diners inside, as well as space for another 12 customers outdoors.

More than 28 jobs are also expected to be created across kitchen, front-of-house and management positions.

Ahead of the opening, Rudy’s announced it would give away 3,000 pizzas to people who sign up through its website.

Speaking when the restaurant was announced, Neal Bates, of Rudy’s Pizza Napoletana, said: “We’re super excited to announce the opening of our Worcester pizzeria.

“Perfectly located for a spot of lunch, a break while shopping, or an evening dinner in the centre of town, whatever the occasion, we’re here to provide a slice of Naples right here in Worcester.”

Rudy’s was founded in Manchester in 2015 and had grown to 39 locations across the UK by the time the Worcester plans were announced.

The Worcester site will be its sixth location in the West Midlands, joining restaurants in Birmingham city centre, BrindleyPlace, Harborne, Royal Leamington Spa and Sutton Coldfield.

The chain specialises in traditional Neapolitan-style pizza, with its menu including pizzas such as Marinara, Margherita and Calabrese alongside changing specials.

Rudy’s was also ranked 23rd in 50 Top Pizza’s list of the world’s best artisan pizza chains in 2025.
