A PUB has reopened under a new name after being closed for months.
The Crown threw its doors open to customers on Old Street in Upton-upon-Severn, having been closed since September 2025, after the previous tenants left.
The pub will perhaps be better known to locals as The Little Upton Muggery, which got its name from all the mugs that adorned the ceiling and walls.
It has now been renamed to The Crown, a nod to its more historic name.
Why has the name changed?
“Years ago, it was the called The Old Crown so we’ve gone back to that,” said Jane Southall, who has co-owned the pub with her husband Tony Southall for 10 years.
“We have got rid of all the mugs and we’ve refurbished it.
“We bought it 10 years ago when it was still The Upton Muggery. The last tenant left last September.”

While it has been closed to customers, refurbishments have been underway at the pub, including an upgraded bar area.
Mrs Southall said they will also soon have accommodation rooms available for people to book.
“We’ve moved the bar around and it’s going to have rooms for people to stay in,” she said.
“It has been a bit manic getting everything ready. There’s lots of things that need doing.”

What to expect
The pub continues to have a focus on drinks, with bar snacks on offer.
Mrs Southall said open hours had not yet been set in stone, as the owners want to see when the demand is greatest.
“It’s mainly a drinking pub with snacks and sausage rolls,” she said.
“We’re going to see how it goes. There’s loads of pubs in Upton so there’s lots of competition but we’re at the other end of town.”
