THOUSANDS across Worcestershire have been urged to cut water use after Severn Trent issued an update on a potential hosepipe ban.
The water company admitted it has seen record-high water demands this summer with three heatwaves so far.
A spokesperson for Severn Trent said teams are working round the clock to treat extra water, move supplies across the network and fix leaks at record levels.

Severn Trent said: “We’re asking customers to think about their water usage.
“We have seen the occasional localised rain shower but were still recovering from weeks of hot dry weather.
“This is why we are also asking customers to think about their water usage and use it wisely, which will help us to try to avoid any potential restrictions as the record hot and dry weather continues.”

Will there be a hosepipe ban in Worcestershire?
Currently, there is no hosepipe ban in Worcestershire but Severn Trent has not denied the possibility in the future.
A spokesperson added: “We have no restrictions in place, but there are areas that need support, with some areas in the west of our region already hit by our first drought trigger.”
When was the last Severn Trent hosepipe ban?
The last hosepipe ban issued by Severn Trent was in 1995, a record it says it is “really proud of.”
The water company has advised customers to reduce water usage by using a watering can instead of a sprinkler, letting lawns recover naturally, reusing water from paddling pools on plants, and running washing machines and dishwashers with full loads.
