A SEX offender who possessed hundreds of indecent images of children has avoided jail.

Daniel McCaffery, of Keren Drive, Norton, Worcester, has been given a two-year prison sentence, suspended for two years, after admitting to a string of offences including owning more than 800 indecent images of children, 33 images portraying sexual acts with a horse and a dog, and more.

In addition to the suspended sentence, Worcester Crown Court confirmed that the 39-year-old had also been given 200 hours of unpaid work, destruction and forfeiture of devices, a restraining order against the victim, had been placed on the sex offenders register for 10 years, and had been given a 10-year sexual harm prevention order.

The court previously noted that McCaffery had owned 477 category A images of children, the most severe kind, 223 category B images, 136 category C images, and 33 images portraying sexual acts with a horse and a dog.

McCaffery also shared a video involving a woman in an intimate state without her consent for his own sexual gratification or that of someone else.

The offences took place between June 2011 and December 2024.
