Worcester City Pride returns with spooky-themed celebration for 2026

Pride celebrations returned to Worcester with a spooky twist as organisers brought the city’s LGBTQ+ community together for a special autumn event.

Worcester City Pride took over St Andrew’s Methodist Church, Pump Street, for Spooky Pride on Saturday (October 10).

Jacob Wolf, treasurer of Worcester City Pride, said: “We have been planning this event since our last event we hosted in June.

“The response we had from the public was that they wanted us to host something like this again because we gave them another Pride event in the year to look forward to.

“So we arranged Spooky Pride; with it being in October, it seems thematically appropriate.”

Visitors to Worcester City Pride were able to visit a selection of stalls, a community cafe run by Sugar Daddy’s Cafe, a Drag Q&A with Crip LadyWood and Bone Ed, and specialised workshops.

Among the list of attendees was Tor Pingree, the mayor of Worcester.

She said: “Pride is such a colourful event and I really enjoy it.  It’s so nice that we live in a time where we can have this in our city and that people, no matter who they are, can go about without fear of rejection or hatred.

“I think events like this are important to keep pushing that message and keep making people feel welcome here.”

It is not the first time St Andrew’s Methodist Church has hosted a Worcester City Pride event.

Mr Wolf said: “Last year we had Cosy Pride in this same venue and it went down very well.

“The Methodists have been very kind to us, and this venue is fantastic. They have given us complete creative control over the building for the day.

“They haven’t just made virtue signals of support and then done nothing practical. They’ve really shown up.”
