Worcester City Women raise hundreds for breast cancer charity

A women’s football club raised £680 for a breast cancer charity through a charity match.

Worcester City Women FC (WCWFC) and its community interest company, Worcester City Women In the Community, organised a charity six-a-side tournament and a ‘Wear It Pink’ match at Sixways.

The efforts were in aid of Worcestershire Breast Unit Haven (WBUH).

The football tournament, which took place on Friday, October 16, saw eight teams, including local businesses, playing for the coveted ‘pink boot’ trophy.

A team from Worcester Bosch, one of the club’s partners, emerged victorious.

Players, fans, and volunteers also wore pink and contributed donations to WBUH when WCWFC played their FA WNL Notts County Women on Sunday, October 18.

Worcester Bosch also donated prizes for a raffle run by the charity.

WBUH is the only breast cancer charity in the area that solely supports patients in Worcestershire.

It provides practical and emotional support for both men and women with breast care needs, working closely with the NHS specialist breast care team.

The charity’s mission is to provide the “best possible care in the best possible environment” for local patients.

The Wear It Pink campaign is an annual fundraising event organised by Breast Cancer Now in the UK, held during Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October.
