Worcestershire site manager wins national housebuilding award for second time

A site manager has won a top industry award for his work at a housing development.

Phil Huffer, senior site manager at Lioncourt Homes’ Martley Fields development near Martley, has received his second consecutive Pride in the Job award from the National House Building Council.

The award recognises his management of 83 homes at Martley Fields, where 33 properties are now occupied.

Mr Huffer said: “Winning this award two years in a row marks a really proud moment, and is a recognition of all the hard work, not just from myself but to the office staff and the trades on site.

“To be recognised is an acknowledgement of my years of hard work and we’re hopeful to continue that recognition into future stages of this competition.”

This year’s Pride in the Job awards recognised 449 site managers across the UK, with Mr Huffer among just 35 winners in the NHBC’s West region.

He began his career in construction at 18 as a forklift driver and has worked as a site manager for the past 13 years.

Mr Huffer said: “It’s so important to meet our build programme while delivering quality in all areas.

“That can be tricky but keeping the team motivated and moving forward is always the goal.

“We make sure that everything is set in stone for our trades and that they understand the standards we expect – after all a home is the biggest purchase most people will make, it just has to be right and there is no room for cutting corners.”

Danny Tunstall, construction director at Lioncourt Homes, praised Mr Huffer’s achievement.

Mr Tunstall said: “For Phil and the site team to be recognised for their dedication to build quality and raising standards in house building is a huge honour.

“I want to take this opportunity to thank and congratulate Phil, and the site team for all their hard work.”

Mr Huffer and his team will now compete for a Seal of Excellence later this year, with the national Supreme Award winners to be announced in January 2027.
