TRIBUTES have been paid to a ‘devoted’ father and an ‘exceptional’ Stourbridge businessman who has been killed after a small aircraft crashed in the Swiss Alps.
Tony Hall, 42, was one of two Britons killed when the small aircraft he was travelling in crashed in the mountains near the town of Leukerbad.
Mr Hall was one of three people killed in the crash.
Mr Hall was the managing director of the Lye-based Pegasus Group and owned the Halfpenny Green Airport in Staffordshire.
He has been described in a family statement released this week as an ‘exceptional business’, as well as ‘wonderful husband’ and ‘devoted father’.
A statement released by Mr Hall’s family said: “As a family, we are completely heartbroken by the loss of a truly wonderful husband, devoted father and much-loved man.
“Tony was an exceptional businessman who achieved great things in the construction/haulage industry, and his commitment to succeed and progress never faltered.
“Although a prominent business figure, he was first and foremost a loving husband and an incredible dad to his daughter, whose family meant everything to him.
“We will miss him immensely and will remember him as the kind, caring, generous, determined and fantastic character he was.
“We are incredibly grateful for the kindness, love, and support shown to our family during this devastating time.
“Our hearts go out to those who also lost their lives in this terrible tragedy.
“We would now respectfully ask for privacy as we try to come to terms with our loss and say goodbye to a man who meant the world to us.”
A statement has also been made by Pegasus, who said that Mr Hall will be ‘deeply missed’.
They said: “Tony built Pegasus from the ground up through hard work, determination and a genuine commitment to the business and the people within it.
“He built a strong team and a business with values and solid foundations, which he was incredibly proud of.
“Pegasus will continue to operate as usual, just as Tony would have wanted, and we will continue to build on the legacy he leaves behind.
“Above everything else, Tony was a much-loved husband, father, friend, and colleague.
“He will be deeply missed by everyone at Pegasus and by so many whose lives he touched.”
