Aldi announces plans for 16 new stores across the UK – see the full list

Aldi is opening 16 new stores across the UK.

The supermarket chain revealed the expansion plans on June 16, which will help boost its presence across the UK while supporting long-term ambitions to grow from 1,080 to 1,500 stores nationwide.

New store locations include Orpington and Hoxton in London, Wigan in Greater Manchester, and Newport on the Isle of Wight.

The list of new store locations includes Hattersley in Greater Manchester, Bishops Cleeve in Cheltenham, Port Talbot in Wales, Sudbury in Suffolk, Ashford in Kent, Watford in London, Rayleigh in Essex, Balsall Common in the West Midlands, Marble Arch in London, Malton in North Yorkshire, Sutton Coldfield in the West Midlands, and Wigan in Greater Manchester.

Aldi has claimed to become the first supermarket to meet the £13 rule for shop assistants’ hourly pay nationally.

The £12.75 hourly rate was raised to £13 in September last year, with staff inside the M25 now earning £14.33 per hour.
